about

In the Spring of 2006 The SJSLCB rented a house in Manahawkin, NJ (it was lovely) and set about recording "Dark Side of the Pool," what was intended to be a massive double album. Unfortunately the band fell apart during the mixing process due to some stupid shit we won't get into. I (Vin Brue, hi) eventually mixed the album a while later, but left off a bunch of tracks that I felt didn't fit, and released it as a single album. Now 5 years later I've gone back and finished those tracks that didn't make the cut. They're kinda weird but I still dig em.

In addition to the unreleased songs, I found a 35-minute long jam session, which I'm pretty sure nobody in the band remembers happening. It's mostly un-listenable but does have some fun moments. I have divided the jam into two scenes: the first begins with Mike Biskup breaking a string, then features John Dorocki on the micro-korg (switching sounds every five seconds) and me on guitar and occasionally singing lines such as "this is why/I don't jam" which pretty much signals my exit. Scene two features both Mike and John on guitar. If you really want to listen to the whole thing, might I recommend drugs? I might? Okay then I do.

about

The SJSLCB was founded in Spring 2000 by Vincent Brue and friends. After 6 years and a few albums, Vincent morphed the ... more SJSLCB into Lifeguard Nights. Then the SJSLCB moniker was resurrected for the fantastic "Lifeboat for Fatty" album. Both the SJSLCB and Lifeguard Nights co-exist peacefully at the moment. It's a little confusing but not really. less
